About the Artist

Brenda Ward – now a resident of Shakopee, MN – was born in Toronto, Canada, yet grew up in the central valley of California.  At the age of 5, her mother taught her how to draw the human figure, thus graduating from stick figures to recognizable human beings.  From that point, she wanted to become an artist.

After receiving her B.A. in Art from California State University, Sacramento – Ward worked as a commercial artist, book cover artist and muralist.  Desiring to return to the Fine Arts, Ward was trained in the French Academic drawing style (learning to draw accurately from life) with American Impressionism (broken color) and “Classically trained” at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis.  Joyfully, Ward returns to her artistic roots; painting in oils.
